Anyway, since then I lost all my money, spent a brief time of my life unemployed on the non paying dole and losing my house which was about as fun as it sounds. Deciding this was basically a crap lifestyle choice I left Swindon forever, came back to Derbyshire and gained a job, a recent birthday, reunited friendships and the vague realiasation that I should probably give this comics business another go after an almost year long sabbatical from drawing.
In fact, a very quick cheers and lovely to anyone who came to see me, Kate Coope, Chris Garside and Helen McCarthy at J-Culture Con last month. Your support and warmth was much appreciated by us all even if we could'nt figure who many of you had come dressed as.
Following on from that I'll be at the 3rd annual Leeds Thought Bubble Festival this weekend at Saville Hall. I'll be sharing a table with Claude TC [link] and hopefully be next door to Chris Garside. I'm looking forward to anyone who pops by my stall.
Just to end off I realised today that I've 404 unviewed pieces and 106 messages to get through. If you're responsible for any of these then I apologise. It's a 4 month backlog that I'll start getting through on monday with the aim of replying to everyone who took the time out to give my work a try.

Don't worry about only doing blue line in Photoshop either, as long as you're using it to work out the form and structures of what you're doing then you'll get better results every time.
Do you have any tips for a girl totally failing at trying to become an illustrator? XD
I'm about to start Sixth Form and I'm planning on going to life drawing classes and squish in as much experience I can get.
People tell me I'm good, but my confidence is lacking. I don't really think I have a sustained style just yet either.
Think it'll come to me?
Cheers x

In terms of drawing your gallery features a lot of fan art that I'm guessing has been coloured in Photoshop. So areas to work on there are figure drawing and general practice (remember, drawing is a skill - the more you do it the better and faster you generally become).
Also try looking at as many different artists and styles as you can. Most of your gallery is Shonen Jump and videogame inspired and whilst there's nothing wrong with that it pays to broaden your horizons.
Both these points sort of answer your sustained style comment. You'll find your style is constantly going to change as you learn new techniques or become inspired by different things. Teachers and lecturers will tell you it's best to have multiple styles but I've found that very inefficient as producing multiple styles of equal quality is very unlikely (though not impossible). The best approach I've seen is to learn to draw in one style well and figure out ways to adapt that style to a variety of different subject matters.
As for a career I don't know what area of illustration you want to work in. But while you're in education your best is to do a vocational course like a BTEC in Art and Design. They're a hands on course and you'll learn lots of different skills in different area's which you can feed back into illustration.
Academic courses like A-Levels and degree's on the other hand aren't that useful for illustration beyond learning the contextual aspect to a greater degree than an btec or HND would. In my experience most clients and editors are far more interested in your portfolio than your credentials and don't care if your uni gave you a 2:1 if you can't actually draw.
Hope this helps and if you want anymore advice just ask!
Cheers and lovely.
Thanks anyway...
